Environmental
Commitment:
Waste Elimination,
Reduction and Recycling
Environment pollution – an occupational hazard for many meat-processing
plants - is controlled at Burrangong by sophisticated systems ensuring no
odours are released from the plant. All waste is used, even to the extent of
Lucerne farming with wastewater. 100 acres adjacent to the plant currently
under crop provides all Burrangong’s holding feed requirements. Burrangong
is even able to sell its surplus requirements.
Burrangong has a very good environmental
record having already reached the highest standard on load-based licensing.
It has sound working relations with both the local Shire Council and the
NSW Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Independent environmental
assessments rate Burrangong’s environmental management plans covering odour
and noise control, and water effluent and waste disposal as more than
sufficient to meet EPA and community standards. |
